Emergency Repairs Lead to Delays

Emergency repairs to an overpass are causing delays on the road and rails in central New Jersey.

The state Transportation Department found a beam on the Interstate 287 overpass over Amtrak's Northeast Corridor tracks in Edison had weakened.

The right northbound lane is closed, leaving two lanes open. The DOT expects delays northbound toward Morristown. Southbound traffic is not affected.

New Jersey Transit says Northeast Corridor trains are operating on or close to schedule. Train tickets are no longer being cross-honored on buses.

NJDot didn’t reveal a timetable for the repairs.
