Lincoln Drive to Undergo Closure Saturday for Maintenance

Lincoln Drive will be temporarily closed for most of the day Saturday due to maintenance and repairs this weekend.

Streets Commissioner David. J. Perri announced Thursday morning that the Streets Department will close down a winding stretch of road from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.

Lincoln Drive will be shut down between Ridge Avenue/Kelly Drive at the south and Wissahickon Avenue at the north. No traffic will be permitted through any of the entrances on the south end of Lincoln Drive.

The full closure will allow various departments to work safely to repair guard rails and potholes, prune trees and complete any other maintenance work necessary.

Southbound traffic will be detoured down Walnut Lane, where signs will mark the detour route. There is no designated northbound detour. Perri suggested that northbound traffic use Walnut as well, or School House Lane.

Due to the volume of workers and equipment, pedestrian and bicycle traffic are also prohibited during the closure.
