A big rig blaze blocked Interstate 95 in Philadelphia during the Wednesday morning commute.
The tractor-trailer caught fire in the northbound lanes near Girard Avenue after 7 a.m.
Police blocked all northbound lanes of traffic as firefighters extinguished the blaze and cleanup crews cleared a corresponding fuel spill.
The roadway remained closed for about four hours, traffic snarled as vehicles were forced off at the Girard Exit and travel times on the 15-mile route from the Blue Route (I-476) to Vine Street Expressway (I-676) ballooned to 75 minutes or more.
As SkyForce10 hovered overhead you could see the red truck with a construction sign smashed into the front of it. No word yet on what caused the crash.
No one was hurt and the roadway reopened shortly after 11 a.m.
The I-95 fire wasn't the only one on area roadways causing traffic troubles Wednesday as a tanker caught fire in the inner northbound lanes south of Interchange 7A (I-195) in Hamilton Township causing all lanes to be blocked around 10:50 a.m.
