A U.S. Postal Service tractor-trailer tumbled off a busy South Jersey highway Friday morning, leaving it perched nearly upright off an overpass.
The truck driver collided with a car in the northbound lanes of Interstate 295 in Mount Laurel Township, Burlington County, after 3 a.m., New Jersey State Police said.
The big rig then went over the side of I-295, the cab landing on Church Street about 20 feet below.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries, police said.
Only one northbound lane of I-295 northbound remained opened as crews worked to figure out how to clear the crash and cleanup a fuel spill. By 6:15 a.m., traffic moved about 18 minutes slower past the scene than normal, according to Waze.
The New Jersey Turnpike could be used as an alternate route.

Mount Laurel Police estimated it would take most of the morning to clean up the wreckage. Crews continued to work on the scene through the morning rush. By 9:25 a.m. the trailer was no longer hanging off the roadway as clean-up continued.
The United States Postal Inspection Service went to the scene to investigate and ensure that the mail inside the truck was secure, the USPIS said in a brief statement.
Church Street reopened around 12:35 p.m., but crews continued to block a lane as they worked to make repairs and continue the clean-up effort, Mount Laurel police said.
