Airport Celebrates 1 Year of Frontier

An airline is celebrating one year of service at a local airport as the termination of some routes loom.

New Castle Airport will hold a party Thursday to celebrate Denver-based Frontier Airlines first year of service at the airport.

Passengers and the general public will enjoy giveaways, free refreshments and the chance to win future Frontier flights from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, according to airport officials.

Frontier began flying from Delaware July 1, 2013 when they took off for locations including Chicago-Midway and Houston.

Since then the discount airline has expanded to include service to Denver, Orlando, Tampa, Wayne County and Atlanta.

Thursday’s party however comes at a time when all isn’t sky high for the airport. Frontier plans to end service to the Detroit-Wayne County area.
