Traffic Advisory: Thursday, April 11, 2013, Funeral for Battalion Chief Goodwin
On Thursday, April 11, 2013, between 8:45AM and 11:00 AM, a viewing for Battalion Chief Goodwin, who was killed in the line of duty, will be held at the Givnish Funereal Home, 10975 Academy Road. Following the viewing, a funeral service will be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 2139 E. Cumberland Street.
The services will begin at 12:30 PM and last for approximately one hour. At the conclusion of the services, a motorcade will take Battalion Chief Goodwin to the Hillside Cemetery, located in Abington, PA.
The following traffic closures will be in effect for the funeral:
Between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, the area surrounding Givnish Funeral Home will be extremely congested. This includes Academy Road, from Comly to Red Lion Road.
At approximately 11:00 AM, the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Michaels Lutheran Church, necessitating the following road closures:
Academy Road, Red Lion to Knights Road
Nanton Road, Academy to Knights Road
Knights Road, Mechanicsville to Woodhaven
Woodhaven Road, Knights to I-95
S/B I-95, Woodhaven to Allegheny
Allegheny Avenue, Richmond to Aramingo
Aramingo Avenue, Allegheny to Lehigh
Lehigh Avenue, Aramingo to Frankford
Frankford Avenue, Lehigh to York
Trenton Avenue, York to Lehigh

Between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM, the area surrounding St. Michael's Church will be extremely congested
At approximately 1:30 PM, the funeral cortege will proceed to Hillside Cemetery, necessitating the following road closures:

Lehigh Avenue, Aramingo to Richmond
Richmond Street, Lehigh to Beach
N/B I-95, Girard to Woodhaven
Woodhaven Road, I-95 to Thornton
Thornton Road, Woodhaven to Comly
Comly Road, Thorton to Norcom
Norcom Road/Red Lion, Comly to Pine Road
Pine Road, Red Lion to Welsh
Welsh, Pine to Huntingdon Pike
Huntingdon Pike, Welsh to Philmont

There will be police assigned along the route to assist motorists. However, motorists should expect delays and congestion in the area of the Church and also along the route to the cemetery.
