Crash Suspect Flees Police, Gets Stuck in New Jersey Traffic Near Holland Tunnel

The driver was arrested on a number of charges, including DWI

Port Authority police say a driver who sideswiped a car in Manhattan and then went through the Holland Tunnel was arrested after he got stuck in traffic in New Jersey.

Spokeswoman Erica Dumas said Monday that Joseph Trainor of Hillside, New Jersey, was arrested on a number of charges, including DWI.

Police radioed the driver's description after the crash Sunday evening then tried to stop him as he emerged on the New Jersey side. Police say he refused, but was halted by the heavy traffic.

Dumas says the driver wouldn't get out of his vehicle and officers used "minimum necessary force" while cuffing him. She says he ended up with minor scrapes on his face and hands.
