Buy A Piece of Philly History

It seems like everyday another announcement comes out concerning the Spectrum. First it was about Bruce and Pearl Jam, and now Comcast-Spectacor has more news.

You can own a piece of the Spectrum’s basketball court.

3-inch by 5-inch wood pieces, with a commemorative frame, are now on sale for $76 (get it? $76 for the floor were the 76ers played?). You can also get a 10-inch by 10-inch piece for $176 (well, you get the idea) with a special plaque reminding you of the historical significance of the court, according to The Daily Journal

“The Spectrum will always be a special place for millions of people. We want to allow our fans an opportunity to own a piece of history so that they can treasure the memories forever,” Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko said.

The Spectrum is set to close at the end of October, with the supposed demolition date on New Year's Day. Just like the Vet did way back when, Comcast-Spectacor also plans on selling the seats the in the Spectrum.

To purchase your piece of the court, head to Remember The Spectrum. A portion of the proceeds will also go to support the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation.
