Turistas, Come Eat

"Tour" Modo Mio’s menu for next to nothing

It's hard being a tourist in a strange town. There's the shame you feel when you pull out a map to get your bearings and the fear of getting ripped off comes at you with every transaction. Thank goodness we actually live here.

Much as we enjoy sneering a the wide-eyed out-of-towners around Independence Hall, Modo Mio in Fishtown has us embracing our inner tourist. The Italian BYOB is offering a "Menu Turista" – a four-course prix-fixe for $32. For that price, we'd even wear a fanny pack! Diners can choose any antipasto, pasta and secondo on the regular menu. (No separate menu for the prix-fixe? Unheard of!) Appetizers include grilled octopus, mussels and seared scallops; for pasta, there's gnocchi with wild boar ragu, chocolate and black pepper. Grilled skirt steak, duck leg confit or roast suckling pig round out the meal.

One last thing -- let’s keep this fantastic deal between us locals, OK?
