Shake Shack Shakes Up Rittenhouse

Danny Meyer's instant success shop makes it's first appearance in Philly

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, Shake Shack offically became part of Philly.

The restaurant that originated as a hot dog cart in Manhattan, debuted its first “shack” in the City of Brotherly Love opening the doors on the 20th and Samson location.

Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group created the food kiosk in New York that became an instant success. Meyer has scattered his shop to much of the East Coast and even has two shops in Kuwait and Dubai. The Rittenhouse-area shop is the franchise's15th location.

The Shake Shack was deemed the 2005’s “Top Casual Lunch Spot” in New York by USA Today.

The eatery -- known for its burgers, hot dogs and frozen custards -- is open from at 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
