Play Hooky for the Playoffs

The Phillies in the NLDS could be worthy of skipping work

Want to escape reality and watch the Phillies all day? Lucky for you, sports bars all over the city are having food and drink specials Wednesday.

So, ditch work and don't feel bad about spending a few bucks wile rooting on the home team.

Can't stop thinking about  ice-cold beer and flat screen TVs? Get out of the office and go straight to Fox and Hound, 1501 Spruce St., where specials start at 11 a.m and last until midnight. We're guessing you'll feel much more comfortable here than in the office.

If the thought of being at work during a Phillies game makes you not only want to drink, but eat, too, then go to  Drinker's Pub, 1903 Chestnut St., where you can enjoy $1 hot dogs and tacos along with cheap beer all day long. If you aren't skipping work to watch the game then head to happy hour from 7 to 9 p.m. instead.

Chickie's and Pete's, 1526 Packer Ave., is also having happy hour from 6-8 p.m. so you can celebrate the Phillies victory (knock-on-wood) here if you decide to be responsible and stick out the whole day in the office.

If you'd rather just celebrate later, Lucy's Hat Shop at 247 Market St. is offering drink specials starting at 9 at night.

For those of you who are lucky enough to be going to the game, make sure you head to McFadden's Ballpark while you're there for some world-famous cheesesteak nachos and beer, obviously.

So, even if you aren't pretending the NLDS is a city-wide holiday, know that you can enjoy the game highlights after work and still get some great drink specials too.
