Philly's Street Food Gets Some Love

City recognized for great street food

Philly cheesesteaks, pretzels and other scrumptious treats normally land the City of Brotherly Love on fat cities lists but Friday Philly got some positive love for its tasty grub.

Home to some of the most famous portable food around, the nation's first capital was recognized by Budget Travel Magazine as the fourth best street food city in the entire world.

Philadelphia was ranked in the Top 5 because of its beloved food options, according to Budget Travel

The foods that put Philly on the list are soft pretzels, Italian ices and the super famous -- wait for it -- Philly cheesesteak. But other foods not normally mentioned as Philadelphian fare also help the city's ranking including Vietnamese and Mexican options.

Maybe Philly's gastro-treats are finally getting us the recognition we deserve.

And the folks at Budget Travel even give readers the ultimate portable food location -- Philadelphia's Italian Market. Head down to 9th Street to see why Philly is among the best for best street foods.

The only cities with better street chow than Philly were Portland, Ore., Los Angeles and Ensenada in Mexico.
