Queen Village restaurant Ansill Food + Wine, which has reaped a lot of attention for including all kinds of funky organ meats and offal on its menus, is pushing the culinary envelope once again with its latest addition, Korean tacos.
The Asian-Mexican mashup, which has gained popularity on the West Coast, involves Korean-style preparations of shortribs and braised pork belly seasoned with fiery chili sauce and nestled in a soft tortilla. The tacos are only available at Ansill's happy hour, which is actually two hours, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Ansill isn't the only spot in Philadelphia melding Latin and Asian cookery right now. Jose Garces' latest restaurant Chifa, which opened in February, features an unusual fusion of Peruvian and Chinese cuisines.
