Happy Hours: Eat and Drink for $5 or Less

In the neverending quest to retain recession-wary diners, both Meme Restaurant in Rittenhouse and Cooper's Wine Bar in Manayunk are offering some substantial discounts to make their happy hours practically delirious.

From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Meme is offering a rotating selection of $5 appetizers from the menu, plus $5 glasses of white, red and rose. On Wednesday's they're waiving the $10 corkage fee and you can BYOB as well.

Cooper's, the newish sister restaurant to the long-running Jake's, is slashing prices even further. They're happy hour is a seven day a week affair, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sample a 5-oz version of Cooper's signature Jake Burger for $4 - the standard version is 10-oz and costs $15; pair them with a $4 glass of cabernet or chardonnay, a $3 Kenzinger or a $5 vodka raspberry cocktail made with fresh-squeezed lemonade.
