This week's Profile is Molly Gannett of Philadelphia. Philly Fashion guru Catriona Whitehead tells us why Molly Gannett is this week's That Girl.
What I like about this look?
Though it is officially April, the weather doesn’t seem to think so. Thus, in preparation for the last few days of this winter chill, consider this ensemble. The overall look says chic outdoor excursion. While she is more or less bundled up, the top portion of her outfit gives a nod to spring—a cream colored sweater over a pink and white checkered button-down. These soft tones are echoed in the plaid lining of her utility jacket. Utility jackets serve as an excellent winter to spring transition piece; the tight weave of the fabric, and the waxy finish on the outside, help to block the wind without retaining too much body heat on the inside. Not to mention, they’re stylish. On the bottom, this young woman is sporting a plum colored pant, which contrasts quite nicely with the cream and pink checkered shirt. To finished off this cute/rugged ensemble, and to keep her feet warm, she chose black lace-up boots. If you’ve already put yours in storage, go for a moccasin, wedge bootie, or oxford pump and the look still works.
Where could this outfit be worn?
As mentioned before, this ensemble is good for, but not exclusive to, outdoor excursions—aka a hike in the woods, a hangout in the park, a picnic in the forest, a walk around the zoo, shopping, lunching out, etc.
Where can you buy this particular look?
A nice utility jacket is best found at Belstaff, Calvin Klein, JCrew, and ShopStyle.com. A cute pink and white check shirt can be found at Abercrombie & Fitch, JCrew, and ShopStyle.com. A plum colored pant is best found at Hudson Nico in Saks Fifth Ave., Joes Jeans, ShopStyle.com, Torrid, and Vince Camuto.
Because spring is upon us, try pairing the top portion of this look with a bright colored pencil skirt (coral, purple, green, royal blue, yellow, etc.) and a flat sandal or a colorful pump (red, yellow, purple, orange, royal blue, nude, etc.).
