That Girl: Emily French

This week's That Girl Profile is Emily French.

This week's Profile is Emily French of Philadelphia. Philly Fashion guru Catriona Whitehead tells us why Catriona is this week's That Girl.

What I like about this look?

This ensemble is feminine and practical. In case you haven’t noticed, the winter to spring weather can be a little unpredictable. Her lightweight patterned dress and tan trench suggest spring, while her grey tights, brown suede boots, and trench protect her from winter’s last clutches. Though her dress is silk and has a blousy cut (ideal for hot summer days), its deep grey background and tan detailing embrace winter’s darkness without appearing drab. This young woman has also created a lovely array of browns. The tan trench brings out the tan detailing in her dress. The brown suede boots echo the brown buttons on her jacket. And her brown purse more or less matches the tone of her hair and glasses. She looks like a chic and rugged damsel.

Where could this outfit be worn?

This outfit is good for anything casual: shopping, dining out, going to a museum, going to class, etc.

Where can you buy this particular look?

A tan trench can be found at Burberry, Cole Haan, GAP, JCrew, LL Bean, London Fog, Old Navy, Overstock.com, Zappos.com, and many more retailers. An easy patterned dress like this one is best found at Anthropologie, Banana Republic, LOFT, ModCloth.com, Old Navy, ShopStyle.com, and Urban Outfitters.

Style tip?

My one styling tip would be to add a touch of color. A bright red, yellow, or blue belt around the waistband of the dress would look great! This will help to wake up the overall look a little bit.
