What I like about this look.
Her mixture of leather, fur, and a bright blue and white striped top is exciting. The fur vest screams winter, fashion-daring, and rugged. This is a difficult piece to wear; many avoid it because the textile is bulky and toes the line between awesome and ugly. Nonetheless, she pulls it off by simply going for it—that’s usually all it takes ladies. Beneath the fur she has paired a bomber jacket. This adds another layer of texture, i.e. leather, to her ensemble. The leather both contributes to the rugged attitude of her outfit and demonstrates her understanding of texture mixing and the importance of hand in apparel (hand is a term referring to how a textile feels when you touch it). But, she has thrown a curve ball into the outfit by providing a bright blue and white striped top. This contrasts the dark and hardy appearance of the leather and fur. Blue and white horizontal striped shirts stem from the historical garb of mariners. And when you think of mariners, you think of the ocean and sailing—overall a summery sensation. Because the stripes are relatively dark, they fit in well with the rest of her ensemble, and provide a pattern where the rest of the outfit is lacking in this detail. To finish, her jeans and boots are a basic put-together; a smart choice considering she has so much going on in the top portion of her ensemble. Way to go girlfriend.
