This week's Profile is Allison Levy of Philadelphia,Pa. Philly Fashion guru Catriona Whitehead tells us why Allison is this week's That Girl.
What I like about this look?
This look is both basic and out-of-the-box. Though she is using a basic black and white combination, she provides pattern, character, and polish. Her tan and black skirt offers a clean pattern that is easy to work with. She then takes a white blouse and puts a black cardigan over it—nothing new to most of you reading this—but, her white blouse offers this nice bow around the neck, providing depth to the overall look and a splash of her personality. To keep the curve of her body smooth and visible, she tucked in both the blouse and the cardigan. And finally, to finish the look, she has put a black belt around the waistband of her skirt, added a chunky gold-link bracelet, and put a nude pump on (always a dependable, yet subtle sexy color for the foot). Overall, this outfit provides excellent coverage without looking dowdy or boring.
Where could this outfit be worn?
This outfit is good for work, going out after 5pm, business events outside of the office, and bridal showers/bachelorette parties.
Where can you buy this particular look?
This blouse can be found at JCrew, but blouses with bows are available at Ann Taylor, Guess, Nordstrom, Piperlime, and Urban Outfitter. A good basic black cardigan can be found at Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, JCrew, Old Navy, and any major department store. A simple patterned skirt is best purchased from Anthropologie, Chicos, JCrew, Nordstroms, ShopStyle.com, and Urban Outfitter. A nude pump can be found at DSW, JCrew, ShopStyle.com, Steve Madden, Target, Zappos.com, and any major department store.
My one styling tip would be to wear the hair down when doing something fun, and wear the hair up in a high sleek bun when doing something work related. Other than that, I think this look is golden.
