Fly Down to the Winter Classic Fan Festival

Free festival features hockey-themed fun & freebies

The rink is built, the ice is laid, the tickets are sold, the hype is growing and the NHL Winter Classic is fast approaching.

And if you weren’t one of the lucky ones to score a ticket to the Flyers-Rangers outdoor showdown (or even if you were) you can still get in on the Winter Classic fun.

For Free!

The puck drops at the Winter Classic Spectator Plaza outside Citizens Bank Park on New Year’s Eve and continues through game day on Jan. 2.

The festival features hockey-themed fun like a slap shot shootout and the Reebok “Zigloo” featuring jerseys and equipment of some NHL stars as well as sponsored fun from Molson Canadian (yes there will be beer for fans 21 and over), Geico and McDonald’s.

But the highlight for Flyers fans could be the Honda tent that will feature autograph sessions with former hockey stars to coincide with Saturday’s Alumni Game.

And just in case playing video games in the comfort of your own home isn’t enough, there will be gaming consoles set up with NHL ’12 ready to go.

And on game day the band ZOO will rock Citizens Bank Way.

Here are the times:

Saturday, Dec. 31, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 1, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 2, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
