NBC10 Takes on Local Firefighters for a Good Cause

Proceeds go to the Del. Co. Heroes Fund for Fallen Officers

It’s officially summer and we’re taking advantage of this beautiful weather with a friendly game of softball -- all for the sake of a great cause.

It’s the 2nd Annual Heroes Softball Game taking place this Saturday (June 26) benefiting the Delaware County Heroes Fund for Fallen Officers and Firefighters.

Come out to watch the NBC10 Fighting Peacocks take on the Drexel Hill Fire Department in a match-up you won’t want to miss. With lots of special guests, including NBC10 alum Bill Baldini.

Looking to ruffle some feathers this year, the Drexel Hill Fire Co. is anticipating this rematch, hoping to come back from last year’s 3-1 loss.

Check out footage from last year’s game to see just how underestimated our Fighting Peacocks were.

“If we can’t beat a bunch of peacocks we’re in trouble,” was some of the trash talk we hit out of the park last year.

Well, we’re back and ready for round two. So come cheer on our teams, work on that tan, and support a good cause.

All proceeds go the Hero Scholarships, which are given to family members of a fallen officers, firefighters or EMS personnel.

It’s all going down at Glen Mills High School Field (located on 185 Glen Mills Rd., Glen Mills, Pa.)  at 2 p.m. The Rain date is scheduled for June 27.

Tickets can be purchased at the front gate for $10, which includes a free hot dog and soda, and children under 6 are free.

If you can’t make it out to the event, you can still show your support by sending donations by check to the Drexel Hill Volunteer Fire Department, indicating “Hero Scholarship Fund” in the memo line.

We raised $1,500 last year and we’re hoping to double that this time around.
