Sadly, the end of summer is drawing near. The humid, sticky weather will soon be replaced by cool breezes and a bit of frost on car windows in the morning. But before summer leaves us to the merciless cold, there is one event that you cannot miss: Musikfest.
From now until Sunday, music of all genres will take over the town of Bethlehem. The one million-plus people that come from all over the country to Musikfest can enjoy everything from Celtic Rock to Polka on any one of Musikfest’s 14 stages. But the best part is that most of the performances are free and open to the public.
Stages are set up all over the place, so exploring the town, as well as new types of music, is encouraged. Who knows? You may be a die-hard blues fan, but discover that you also enjoy the sounds of music from China -- you never know.
The music starts at noon each day and doesn’t stop until 11 p.m.
While most of the stages and concerts are free, some of the performances do require tickets, but they’re worth it. Performers for the rest of the week include The B-52’s with Joan Jett & The Black Hearts, Puddle of Mudd with Trapt, Pat Benatar and Blondie, George Thorogood and The Destroyers with Jonny Lang.
The legendary Crosby, Stills & Nash close Musikfest on Sunday with a spectacular fireworks display.
