Free the Hikers With an Open Bar

Support the American hikers detained in Iran with an open bar and reception

Almost one year ago, three Americans were hiking in Iraq when they may have crossed the border into Iran without even noticing it. They have been detained in Iran ever since. The hikers have not been formally charged and have been refused access to a lawyer.

You can help free them by attending an open bar and appetizer reception at Ladder 15 in Philadelphia on Wednesday July 21 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

If you would like to be a host, the cost is $100. For friends of the hikers, it is $50. Hosts suggest that people planning on drinking should donate $35, and non-drinkers should donate $25. All proceeds will benefit the Free the Hikers Foundation, so of course you can always donate more.

The hikers, Josh Fattal, Shane Bauer and Sarah Shourd, were all graduates of University of California at Berkeley and regular travelers, according to freethehikers.org. Their mothers have been able to visit them once since they were detained on July 31, but were only allowed to stay for two days. The hikers were allowed to call their families once.
