Did you know that dogs can be blood donors too?
Burlington County PET AID, an animal welfare organization, is hosting a canine blood drive on Saturday at the American Red Cross Burlington County Chapter on Route 38 in Lumberton, N.J.
There is always a need for dog blood. Many pooches suffer each year from bleeding disorders and trauma-related injuries and blood donations can save their lives.
The drive is open to all types of dogs -- by appointment only.
You can book your pooch a donor time from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. by calling 609-702-7211.
Potential donors are required to be six years old or younger, between 55 and 150 pounds, healthy and up-to-date on all of their vaccinations.
