This Memorial Day weekend, gas prices will be high and beach traffic will be stressful. Check out these historical activities happening in and around Philly that won't break the bank.
What better place to celebrate the historic weekend than at the National Constitution Center?
The Center is hosting a celebration on Saturday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. where visitors can learn about flag raising, our national monuments and the Liberty Tree.
Children can sing patriotic karaoke or make American flags and memorial wreaths.
Admission to the Constitution Center’s Memorial Day celebration is free with museum admission.
For a more serious Memorial Day ceremony, head to Valley Forge Park where they will be honoring those who served and are serving our country during their Memorial Day Commemoration.
The event is free and will feature a Walk of Remembrance at 9 a.m. with a park ranger who will place flags at historical monuments while explaining their significance.
There will also be a wreath-laying ceremony at 3 p.m. at the National Memorial Arch with patriotic music and armed-services representatives.

The Benches will be open starting on Memorial Day, giving kids the opportunity to make the journey to each bench and collect a star from each one.
With a star from each bench, children can make flags with all 13 stars and trade it for a coupon book and prizes at the Historic Philadelphia Center or at Franklin Square.
The educational Benches are free and will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Labor Day.
