AC's Wacky Promos Aim to Draw Vacationers

With vacation options in Pa. and Del., Atlantic City is finding new, fun ways to lure people to the Jersey shore.

Instead of saving your costumes and bobbing skills for fall, you can break out the tricks and the treats this summer -- at least at the Jersey shore, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

With suitable beach and casino options in Pennsylvania and Delaware, New Jersey -- Atlantic City in particular -- is losing some of its local appeal. What better way to win back visitors than to offer some outrageous promotions?

While the Jersey shore is known for its boardwalks, bars and beaches, America was given a slightly different perspective thanks to the production team at MTV. That’s why one Atlantic City hotel and Casino is using Snooki from the “Jersey Shore” to lure vacationers in, according to the paper.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that Bally’s kicked off the outrageous promotions initiative with a Snooki look-a-like contest last Monday. What set this look-a-like contest apart, was the addition of a pickle-bobbing contest.  Robert Tuzi, 25, of Franklin Township, Gloucester County took first place which included a two-night stay in a suite, dinner for two and spa treatments, not to mention a few pickles and a Snooki outfit.

According to research, wacky promotions are a cheap, yet effective way to draw in the masses, boost sales and overall add a different flavor to the fun that is the New Jersey shore.

Headlining this summer’s promotion madness is the ever-popular beer pong, with tournaments being held in and out of the hotels.
