Get Cozy in a Historic Hotel July 4

Need a cozy getaway that's just a short drive away? AAA Mid-Atlantic released its 15 Historic Hotels in the Philadelphia Burbs.

To be considered for this honor, the landmark must be 75 years or older and exhibit features of historic nature.

Also, the hotel must be featured in one of the following -- the National Register of Historic Places, a National Historic Landmark or located in a National Registered Historic District.

Here is a list of the top five:

1. Sweetwater Farm Bed & Breakfast in Glen Mills

The 50-acre estate was part of a land grant from William Penn to the Hemphill Family.

The bed and breakfast is great place for you and that special someone to spend a weekend. You can take a dip in the pool or relax in their massage room. And, if you’re more of an outdoorsman, head to the trails and go hiking.

Sweetwater Farm is a "Wonderful B&B that ended up feeling like home...The downstairs had a billiard table and lots of big, comfy leather chairs...The breakfast is really good-- I had ham & cheese omelettes,  Belgian Waffles and great peppered bacon," Yelp.com reviewer SavvyTraveler H. said.

When you visit Sweetwater you can check out Brandywine Valley and places like Longwood Gardens.

2. Kennett House Bed & Breakfast in Kennett Square:

The foursquare mansion built in 1910 landed the number two spot on AAA’s list.

The B&B is in the National Register Historic Places. Guests can stay in a variety of rooms and really feel like a VIP by taking advantage of the concierge services.

What makes it even better is that it's close to all of Brandywine Valley’s awesome attractions.

3. LaFayette’s Retreat in Lafayette Hill:

With a great on-site restaurant, which even has its own brewery, LaFayette’s Retreat is a great getaway with great beer.

At night you can enjoy some music by local musicians. It's a quiet and cozy place that is close to Chestnut Hill.

4. Cornerstone Inn Bed & Breakfast:

A colonial-style home located in Landenberg was constructed in 1704.

This B&B has great outdoor gardens and a pool. As a matter of fact, the perennial and herb gardens are award winning.

This is a great getaway for those looking for a quiet escape.

5. The Pineapple Hill Bed & Breakfast Inn:

This 18th century colonial manor located on six acres between New Hope and Washington Crossing Park offers unique rooms.

While you’re there take a dip in the pool and make sure to check out all of the restaurants, museums and art galleries that Bucks County has to offer.
