A Little Bit of Brazil on South Street

September 7 marks Brazil's Independence Day, but here in Philadelphia we're celebrating Dia da Independencia a little early.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28, dance all happy hour long under the Historic Shambles in the South Street Headhouse District. Learn to samba with Society Hill Dance Academy. Cool off with free Brazilian drinks while checking out Lazaro Faria's documentary "Mandinga em Manhattan."

Continue the party with Brazilian music and dancing on Saturday, August 28 at 12:30 p.m. on 2nd and South.

But what is Brazilian culture without some art and fashion? Designer Priscilla Costa will be showcasing her pieces at 602 S. 2nd Street along with artists and Brazilian blogger Andrea Pippins.

Be sure to check out the city's first annual Brazilian Cultural Weekend -- bringing South American spice to South Street.
