7/8: Cinema, Comedy and a Good Cause

Qfest: This year’s Qfest, celebrating the best films in GLBT cinema, will show not one, but two films at their premiere tonight. Be sure to check out the after-party at Liberty View Ballroom and Terrace in Independence Mall to mix and mingle with stars, directors and crew. As a special “Sweet Sixteen” anniversary, the festival will offer moviegoers a chance to see locally produced movies, international films as well as rising talent all week long. Prostate Palooza: Beer, music, food and a good cause--we’re talking about Prostate Palooza tonight at World Café Live. Help support prostate cancer awareness and research by rockin’ out to your favorite bands and enjoying two free Victory beers with purchase of a ticket. Performances include Black Landlord, The Great Unknown, Wissahickon Chicken Shack, and the Pros From Dover. All proceeds will go to the Mark R. Masterson Fund and the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Ben Bailey: Cash Cab host Ben Bailey is live at Helium Comedy Club tonight and tomorrow. The three-time Emmy award-winning comedian is best known for his role as a cab driver in the TV quiz show, but Bailey has been on the comedy circuit doing stand-up for over 15 years.
