4/16: Dancing, Donations and Divas

Philadanco Anniversary: Philadanco, Philadelphia’s premiere dance company, celebrates its 40th Anniversary Jubilee tonight at the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater. Beginning with an opening reception, the event is followed by a special performance by the group at 7:30 p.m. with the premiere of Jawole Willa Jo Zollar's By Way of the Funk. Join The Party: Celebrate the gift of life tonight at “The Party.” Donors are Heroes and the Gift of Life Donor Program join forces to raise funds and awareness about becoming a donor and the need for life saving transplants. Although the ticket price of $75 seems steep, partygoers will enjoy hors d’oeuvres from Philly’s finest restaurants, a top-shelf open bar, tarot card readings, photo booths and music, all while sponsoring a great cause. Angie Stone & Leela James: R&B soul singers Angie Stone and Leela James will headline the Keswick Theatre tonight. Stone’s vibrant stage presence and neo-soul spirit has landed her on the top of the charts for many years. She has released five hit albums with three Grammy Award nominations. Leela James shows more of a funk R&B style in her material and is currently releasing her third album later this year. See both divas tonight for under $50.
