The 2011 Live Racing season officially began Friday at Harrah's Chester Casino and Racetrack.
The new season of harness racing marks the fifth year of horse racing in Chester and it promises to be a big one. This season offers one of the most competitive purse structures in the country and plenty of big races including the Colonial Trot, the Battle of the Brandywine and the Ben Franklin Pace, according to track officials.
Also new this year is the Friday evening cards joined by the return of day racing.
Harrah's season goes until late December with the biggest day of racing set for Aug. 21 -- Super Stakes Sunday with more than $2 million in prizes.
