Forget the Running Shoes, Put on Your Party Hat

On your mark, get set...wait! Your not getting up early to run 10-miles down Broad Street on Sunday, May 2, but you still want to feel like part of the action. And because we're so sweet, we've compiled a list of the best places to watch the run, grab a drink or some food and celebrate with the runners after the race.

The 31st Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. at the Central High School Athletic Field on Broad and Somerville Avenue in North Philly. So naturally, that's a great place to catch a glimpse of the runners as they embark on their 10-mile adventure.

South Broad Street along the Avenue of the Arts is a long stretch of street perfect for race watching.

Or maybe South Philly's more your style. Why not head to the stadiums and show participants your support as they pass by. While you're there, stop into Chickie's and Pete's, grab a beer, some crab fries and a table in anticipation of the Phillies when they take on the Mets at 8:05 p.m. (yeah, we know it's way early, but Chickie's fills up fast!).

Make a pit stop at the Union League Building on the corner of Broad and Sansom Streets for live music from Right Turn playing your favorite hits from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

JLSuliivan's in the Bellvue opens at 11 a.m. and the fully stocked bar will available for all of your thirst quenching needs, not to mention their menu is a tasty and modern take on classic American food with dishes like the three cheese baked mac and cheese, the bacon cheddar burger topped with onion rings and a special sauce and the Thanksgiving turkey wrap. My mouth's watering already. JL's is perfect for race (and Phillies) watchin' with 34 HDTV's.

The race concludes at the Philadelphia Navy Yard with a celebration for the runners and you complete with music, refreshments and tons of activities for the kiddies!
