Race day is almost here!
Sunday is the time to throw a few back and whoop for the riders in the 2009 TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship.
The 156-mile race is a must see in Philly with a ton of hot spots to watch.
Head to the Art Museum or “Feed Zone” where you will be able to feel the speed as the riders fly by.
Lemon Hill in Fairmount Park is a great place for more serious racing fans who want to watch the race rather then participate with the festivities of the drunken hounds.
Go to the Manayunk Wall and see the sheer endurance of the racers as they climb the hill. As a bonus, you will witness the struggle of drunken fans attempting to outrun the cyclists up the hill.
For great drink specials go to Bayou Bar and Grille in Manayunk. Kickoff is on Friday with $1 U-Call-Its and come race day they will open at 10 a.m. with food and drink specials until 2 a.m.
And if you are not keeled over after hours spent in the sun the Bayou will also have an “After Race Party” with prices and a Bikini-Dance-Off Contest.
Another great spot to hit is 105 Social on Main Street. Party starts at 9 a.m., 5 bucks gets you in all day. There will be drink specials, food, games and music too.
Dawson’s Street Pub is another great spot for beer specials and live music.
And heck, if the worst you can do is a friend’s kegger, that’s not too bad of a time either.
So grab a friend (or maybe two) and head to the 25th Cycling Championship, we are sure it’ll be a good ride.
