Jaws Wants to Get Your Family in Shape

Looking for something different to do down the shore this summer? While in Stone Harbor, N.J. on the last Sunday in June families of all ages will be able to get fit alongside an Eagles legend.

The first ever Ron Jaworski Fitness Festival for Jaws Youth Fund takes place on June 28. The event is hosted by the former Eagles QB and current ESPN personality and all proceeds will go to support the Jaws Youth Fund to benefit at risk youths in Camden County.

The event is centered on a morning 5K around Stone Harbor -- but it’s not just a contest -- this event is for the whole family.

The 5K breaks down into three waves, with the competitive run first, followed by a non-competitive run and ending with the family wave where families can run, jog, walk, push a stroller or even walk the dog.

There are also awards for the best-dressed and largest team. So get the office, relatives, neighbors or even strangers off the street to come. And, make sure you get creative -- costumes, hats and banners are all encouraged.

After finishing, everyone can join Jaws at an afternoon festival along 82nd Street. The festival includes games, autograph sessions, live entertainment plus snacks and drinks. Also, anyone under the age of 18 can sign up for free football clinic hosted by Jaws and other NFL greats.

Because it's a Fitness Festival there’s also free medical screenings and free samplings of healthy foods.

Register before June 24 to save money on the 5K registration. It's $25 for adults (thirteen-plus), $20 for children (6 to twelve) and $10 for tots (five and under). If you want to bring Rover along with you there is no charge.

The coolest part is that the Web site even has a calendar to get people into 5K into shape before the event. There’s a break down for both beginners and intermediates, so there’s no excuse to not be there.
