The doghouse isn’t necessarily a place you want to spend any time. But take one look at this year’s PSPCA designer show house—affectionately named the DogHaus—and you’ll know why it’s the place to be.
Located in Chestnut Hill, this year’s home is the swanky and historic Edgcumbe House. Top designers from all around Philly were given free reign in more than 20 different spaces, where they created cutting edge designs that are sure to give you inspiration for your own place. The mansion has opened its doors for public tours and envious stares through November 9.
Since beginning in 2003, DogHaus has become one of the area’s largest design homes. And it’s all for a good cause (besides displaying decorative eye candy). The event is a fundraiser for the PSPCA, and money raised goes directly to help abused and neglected animals find good homes. Check out the cool Asian-inspired boudoir with mod lighting touches, or another bedroom that plays off the style of India or the sitting room that is stunningly awash in gray, metallics and Technicolor.
The DogHaus is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends. Individual tickets, which include a complimentary catalog, are $25 and can be purchased at the door. Catch glimpses of designs by locals like August Interiors, Burke Borthers Landscape Design, Fury Design, Laurel Hill Garden and LUXE Home.
