Go Back to College for a Day

Think back, for a moment, to your time in college. What do you reflect on most fondly?

Sure, there were the parties. But in between wild nights and spur-of-the-moment road trips, there were also the classes. And, no matter where you went to school, there was always that one course that really delivered. You know—the class that filled an entire lecture hall every week, the one where even the most aloof students hung on the professor’s every last word.

Now imagine a day full of nothing but those so-good-time-flies lectures.

That’s what you’ll get at One Day University, a daylong event that brings top professors to present their most intriguing material in cities across the country. The price isn’t cheap ($259 for one day), but the professors who lead the day’s four lectures are among the best in the world. They are the men and women who win Teacher of the Year awards, multiple years in a row.

The events continue through 2009, but the next Philly installment will take place Saturday, Dec. 13 at Villanova University. Top teachers from Columbia, Yale, Harvard and Penn will present on topics that range from the health care crisis to Beethoven.

The day runs from 9:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., includes lunch and—perhaps best of all—there’s no homework.
