One Year of Firsts: Give a Damn, Give a Dollar to Haiti

Day 14

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting toimprove the world. ~Anne Frank

I can't stop watching the images coming in from Haiti. It makes you feel so helpless. As a reporter I'm used to dropping in on disaster scenes and letting others decide how they will help.

I've contributed to charities all my life, but I've never seen something so devastating on tv that I immediatly went to look for a way I could give money. For me it's a first. Maybe it's a first for you too.

I keep hearing celebs and pols say "just give a dollar". Can you just give "a dollar"? Where do you go to just give "a dollar"?  What if we all gave "a dollar"? What if one small donation added to many small donations and it added up to something big that would really help?

So I did a little research and I've found some ways I can give just "a dollar" or more.

It's better than watching the news and thinking "what can I do about it?" and then doing nothing.

Let me know if you give "a dollar" too.

Go to WAWA. You can contribute ONE DOLLAR to go to Red Cross disaster relief in Haiti

Use your CELLPHONE

This is easy.  If you're willing to donate TEN DOLLARS,you can use your cellphone with a major carrier to make your contribution.  I just did it.

Here's how:   Send a text to the number 90999  send the word HAITI as your message. You will be billed 10 dollar on your cell phone bill and your contribution will go to the RED CROSS

Give a damn. Give a dollar.
