One Year of Firsts: Chocolate Torte Disaster/Save

Day 89

Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all. ~Harriet van Horne

When I last blogged (yesterday), I was worried that something wasn't quite right with the Flourless Chocolate Torte I was making.

When I went to flip it over, there was the ugly proof!  My chocolate torte was chocolate mud.  Martha Stewart, where are you??? Help!

The thing is, the chocolate mess tasted like chocolate heaven!  I stuck it back in the refrigerator hoping somehow, some way  I could save it.

I did not want to disappoint the Mark family. Every year they have us over for Passover. I adore them, and my assignment was to bring over a chocolate Passover dessert, (no flour allowed).

They are lovely. Just look at them gathered around the Passover table.

Somehow, the cake kind of mushed back together after I chilled it, but it wasn't pretty.  I needed major  camouflage. Bring in the whipped cream and raspberries!

Check it out.  "Aunt Lil" gives a critical review.

Hey, I'm telling you, it tasted really great.  Total improvisation.

Normally, I would have tossed the whole thing, but I knew you were watching. You'd want to know, what happened to the cake! Garbage? Not a good ending.

Thanks to all of you who offered tips when I panicked.  My first great cake save! Even Martha would have applauded.
