Doesn’t the City of Philadelphia know there are only 30, not 31, days in June?
An NBC 10 viewer found the sign pictured on a parking meter on Spruce Street between 17th and 18th on June 2. The sign forbids drivers from parking at the indicated spot from May 26 to June 31 -- hold on June 31? A day that doesn’t exist.
Interestingly, the sign only prohibited parking at that particular meter. And it looks like a "5" was possibly turned into a "6" on the finishing date. So it's possible the sign originally read to "05-31" instead of "06-31."
The sign credits a “temporary police regulation” with the parking restriction and denies Philly drivers access to the spot between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Who is responsible for this embarrassing faux pas?
In 1950, the City of Philadelphia established the Philadelphia Parking Authority, which claims responsibility for all municipal parking operations. However, when we contacted the Parking Authority for comment, they told us the Police Department puts up those signs on meters.
The police department had no comment as to who might have actually posted the sign.
