Ahmadinejad declares War …. on an Octopus

Iranian leader outraged over aquatic creature's prognostications

Iranian strongman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is up in arms about an octopus.

While the rest of the world was amused by Paul the Octopus' amazing World Cup soccer predictions, including correctly picking Spain to win it all, the Iranian president was disgusted.

"Those who believe in this type of thing cannot be the leaders of the global nations that aspire, like Iran, to human perfection, basing themselves in the love of all sacred values," he said in a speech in Tehran.

Maybe you saw a lovable aquatic folk hero providing a light-hearted angle to an annual event that brings the world together, but Ahmadinejad saw only the tentacles of "western propaganda and superstition."

Paul, who lives at Germany's Oberhausen Sea Life Centre, could not be reached for comment.
