Homeowner Finds Squatter in Jersey Shore House

Normally someone might check on their Jersey Shore house to make sure no windows were broken by storms or that the roof has held or even to make sure things are tidy for the summer.

But when you arrive at the shore you sure don’t expect to find a squatter.

But that is exactly what a man found inside his Manahawkin home Monday, according to Stafford Township Police.

Jesse Demyan, 20, was arrested. The homeowner told police he found Demyan inside the house in Beach Haven West, near Long Beach Island, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Demyan was charged with burglary. The Asbury Park Press reports that Demyan is a suspect in a series of recent burglaries in the Beach Haven West section of Stafford Township.

He's being held at the Ocean County Jail on $25,000 bail. It was not known if he had retained a lawyer.

Anyone with info about the suspect or recent burglaries in the area should call Stafford Township Police at 609-597-8581 or 609-597-TIPS.
