Handcuffed Man Steals Police Car: Police

A man was jailed on charges he stole a Pennsylvania state police cruiser and led officers on a chase -- after he had been handcuffed and arrested for drug offenses.

State police arrested Anthony Fox, 26, on Saturday night in Nanty Glo – that’s about 70 miles east of Pittsburgh. They say he somehow got free from being seat-belted into the back of a police cruiser and got his cuffed hands in front of him and drove away.

Police say they gave chase and caught up to the Smicksburg, Pa. man after he crashed the car in front of an apartment building in nearby Jackson Township.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Fox, who remained in the Cambria County Prison Monday on charges including escape, theft, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
