Gettysburg Store Offers Civil War Costumes for Dogs, Cats

The owners of a new pet store in south-central Pennsylvania operate under a simple philosophy — only sell what they would want for their own pets.

Stephanie Honodel and Diana Guy of Gettysburg told The Evening Sun of Hanover about merchandise that includes Civil War-era costumes for dogs and cats.

Dogs of Gettysburg opened on Baltimore Street at the Old Gettysburg Village shopping center this spring. It offers collars, pet beds, T-shirts and 1860s-era dresses and uniforms.

The store features items made by Honodel and Guy along with merchandise from local vendors.

Honodel says that despite the store's name, they're not limited to dogs and have outfitted pot-bellied pigs, snakes and other animals.
