Cops Charge Alleged Caught on Camera Seafood Shoplifter

Woman stole nearly $100 in seafood from a South Jersey grocery store, cops say

Police in New Jersey asked for the public’s help Wednesday to find an alleged seafood thief. On Thursday they announced an arrest in the shoplifting.

Sharon Green, 40, of Woodlynne, N.J. was charged with theft after she was allegedly caught swiping $90 worth of seafood from the ShopRite on Chews Landing Road in Clementon

Surveillance cameras caught the Aug. 13 theft on video. Gloucester Township Police put photos and video of the alleged thief and her getaway car -- a green Volkswagon Beetle -- on their Facebook page.

Just hours after the video was posted police say they had Green as a suspect.

“This is another example of the growing role technology and social media play in solving and preventing crime and more importantly a representation that our residents have become our partners in policing by following our social media and providing such valuable tips and leads”, said Chief Harry Earle.

Green was already in Camden County Jail for another shoplifting arrest stemming from a Gloucester Township incident on Aug. 17.
