A bizarre discovery was made as the rains from Hurricane Irene stopped Sunday in South Jersey.
A 2-foot alligator was spotted behind building 48 at the Lakeview Apartments on Lower Landing Road in Blackwood, N.J.
A resident found the gator underneath a bridge near an adjacent lake and contacted Gloucester Township Police.
Before cops arrived around 1:45 p.m., Ryan Myers had trapped the gator and managed to tape its mouth close so that the reptile wouldn’t bite anyone.
Myers posted photos of his catch on the NBC10 Weather Facebook page.
It’s unclear if flooding from Irene caused the gator to wind up in the apartment complex. Animal control did say however that they believe the gator was being kept as a pet.

The animal will be relocated, cops said.
And don’t worry, no other gators were found in the area, authorities said.
