New Jersey Teen Shakur Stevenson Fights for Gold
New Jersey native Shakur Stevenson took home silver after losing to Cuba’s Robeisy Ramirez Carrazana in the 123-pound boxing gold medal boxing match.
After the bout, Stevenson pulled his vest over his face and walked off to a railing to compose himself. With a towel over his head, Stevenson sobbed and was consoled by his family.

In an emotional interview after the fight, the 19-year-old from Newark, New Jersey, gave “much respect” to his opponent. But he conceded, “I’m hurt."
When asked if he took solace in winning the silver medal, he could barely get out words.
“No," he said, with his voice breaking. "I don’t like to lose.”
The fight was even on the scorecards through two rounds. Ramirez, now a two-time Olympic gold medalist, won 29-28 on two scorecards. Stevenson won one card 29-28.
With a dominating record in international competitions, Stevenson arrived in Rio as Team USA’s best hope at ending the country’s 12-year Olympic men’s boxing gold medal drought. [[390216161, C]]
WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne Adds Gold to Trophy Case
The Team USA Women's Basketball team with Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne won the gold medal Saturday after dominating Spain in a 101 to 72 rout. It was Delle Donne's first Olympic gold medal and the sixth consecutive Olympic gold medal for the US Women's team.
The squad is one gold away from tying the U.S. men's basketball team's seven consecutive golds between 1936 and 1968. Despite the loss, Spain still won its first medal in women's basketball in the country's history.

Penn State Volleyballers Win Bronze
After a disappointing five-set loss to Serbia in the semifinals, the U.S. Women’s Volleyball Team took home the bronze Saturday after defeating the Netherlands.
Penn Staters Christa Harmotto Dietzen and Alisha Glass were part of the winning effort for Team USA.
Vashti Cunningham Unable to Medal
Vashti Cunningham, the 18-year-old daughter of former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Randall Cunninghan, was unable to medal in the high jump final Saturday Night. Cunningham cleared 1.88 meters but was unable to clear 1.93 meters.

Philly's Taylor Ellis-Watson's Teammates Win Gold
Philadelphia's Taylor Ellis Watson's teammates won gold in the Women's 4x400 meter relay.
Watson helped propel Team USA into the final running the second leg of the country's top time of 3:21.42. She did not run for Team USA during Saturday night's final in which Allyson Felix led the United States to its sixth straight victory in the 4x400 meter relay.
