Teen's New iPhone App Just His First

Local high schooler creates game for iPhone after teaching himself to program

Who is the computer expert behind the new iPhone, iPod and iPad app Ghost Chaser? Look no further than local high school student Eddie Fisher.

Fisher, who is about to graduate from Salem High School in South Jersey, created the ghost hunting game after teaching himself how to design and create apps on the Apple's iPhone platform.

The teen's proving all you need to become a digital entrepreneur is a love for technology and a little computer programming.

One of four children, Fisher credits his family for helping cultivate his technological prowess.

Fisher said that his sister “used to be really good with computers” and that, when they were growing up, his computer-savvy siblings “would help me figure out what I wanted to do” on the Web.

This summer, Fisher plans to spend time improving his skills before he begins studying computer programming at Salem Community College in the fall.

“I want to work on making more apps and trying to get better at programming,” he said.

The teen also holds down a job at Applebee's, takes part in many extra-curricular activities including ambassadors’ club and Future Business Leaders of America and, of course, keeps up on friendships.

For FBLA, Fisher noted, “You do community work, charity stuff, and a bunch of leadership-type things, a lot of fundraisers.”
Somehow, he even volunteers his time to help classmates better their skills in a school computer class.

But Fisher admits, it all comes back to the apps: "It’s really all I ever do.”

So, what are this bright student’s plans for the future?

After college, Fisher plans on being a computer programmer “developing programs to help computers run better.”

Will he be surprising iPhone owners with any more games in the near future?  Fisher responded that he had a few projects in the works.

No details yet, though!  Fisher said, “It’s a secret.  Hopefully they’ll be out on the app store.”

Ghost Chaser is available for $0.99 through iTunes.
