Verizon Finally Connects With Apple's iPhone: Report

If you didn't get a shiny new Apple iPhone 4 on Christmas morning, don't worry. The network Apple fans everywhere have been waiting for to get the smartphone may have finally gotten the gift it wanted.

The Cupertino-based smartphone maker has reportedly increased its global shipment goals for the iPhone for the first quarter from 19 million to up to 21 million phones.

The actual news is only about 14 to 15 million of the units will be the current version of the phones, while 5 to 6 million will be of the yet-to-be-announced CDMA version of the iPhone, according to DigiTimes, who cited “sources with Taiwan-based component suppliers”

The CDMA compatible phone is largely expected to finally open the door to an Apple-Verizon relationship, which has largely been reported to begin early next year.

While Apple's phone has been seen by many as the standard-bearer of smartphones, fans have long criticized the phone's network provider AT&T. Recently the network was named the worst carrier in the country.
