Ready to See YourName.sucks on the Internet?

I sure hope there's never a KentHoover.sucks web site, and I've got a friend in Sen. John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va.

Rockefeller, who chairs the Senate Commerce Committee, has urged the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers to reject requests to add "sucks" as a global generic top level domain.

Three companies have applied for the right to operate the "sucks" gTLD, "claiming it will foster debate and benefit consumers," Rockefeller notes in a letter to ICANN.

Rockefeller, however, contends the only apparent purpose of this gTLD is to extract "defensive registration" payments from Internet users. Read more about this story on PBJ.com.
