Local Kids Need Your Help in Google Logo Contest

Two kids need our votes to move ahead in the Doodle for Google contest

It's one of the most famous logos in the world and it's about to get a makeover -- possibly by a student from our area.

We received emails from the proud teachers of two students who are finalists in the Doodle for Google contest.

All they need to win are your votes.

Google asked participants to redesign the company's logo with the theme "If I could do anything, I would…"

One student finalist is 9-year-old Michael Hemphill. He goes to John R. Downes Elementary in Newark, Del. He's one of 40 finalists from across the country.

Michael's idea was to provide free pipes to deliver drinking water to those in need. He made the logo out of pipes.

Another local finalist is Rafael Gonzalez. The 17-year-old is from Lower Township, N.J. and goes to Lower Cape May Regional High School.

When asked if he could do anything here's what he came up with:

Rafael wants equal education for everyone. He incorporated the Google logo into a chalkboard.

You can make sure both of our local finalists win the Doodle for Google contest. But you only have until 8 p.m. tonight to vote for them.
