Vick Might Take Snaps But Reid Isn't Telling

Coach won't even say if Vick will play

The cat and mouse game of who will see action as the Eagles quarterback continued Wednesday after Head Coach Andy Reid wouldn't confirm if newly available Michael Vick would see game action.

Donovan McNabb could sit out for a second-straight week with a cracked rib leaving the Eagles offense in the hands of his backups, but will Vick be included in the plan?

McNabb didn't practice Wednesday because of a broken rib that forced him to miss the Eagles' 48-22 loss to New Orleans last Sunday. Last week the Birds kept open the possibility of him playing and McNabb was only ruled out less than two hours before game time.

Kevin Kolb took the snaps in place of D-Mac. Kolb would make his second straight start if McNabb can't play against Kansas City Sunday.

Kolb put up impressive yardage totals in his first career start but had trouble protecting the ball against the Saints. He threw for 391 yards and two scores but gave up three interceptions -- two of which lead to Saints' scores.

But, Reid wasn't sure whether Jeff Garcia or Michael Vick would be the backup quarterback, he said. Or at least coach Reid wasn't telling.

Reid wouldn't even confirm if Vick was definitely going to see the field against the Chiefs.

Vick is eligible to play his first regular season NFL game in more than two seasons after serving a two-game suspension as the final league penalty for his role in running a dogfighting ring.

Vick would be in uniform, he said. So he'll at least serve as the No. 3 QB.

“One thing we do know is I'm going to be dressed up, so that's a great opportunity,” Vick said. “This is Andy's team. He's a smart guy. He knows what to do and when he comes up with the game plan. If it doesn't include me, I'm cool. But, I will make sure that mentally I'm aware of what's going on and I'm ready in case something happens. You never know what can happen.”

It's unlikely that Kolb will take all the snaps Sunday. The Birds utilized the Wildcat a handful of times last Sunday and that was without Vick -- the self-described "Wildcat Originator." With a weapon like Vick waiting on the sidelines its tough to see the Eagles not using the Wildcat even more this week.

Vick was ready for whatever role the Eagles had for him.

“I'm very excited to have the opportunity to go out there and play football, regardless of my role,” Vick said Wednesday. “This is a dream come true for me.”
